/#/ Bayern Munchen x Juventus live text commentay, score, and coverage: Uefa Champions League 2/4/2013

FULL TIME: BAYERN 2 - 0 JUVENTUS. Goals from David Alaba and Thomas Muller give the German side a hugely deserved victory at the Allianza Arena. Antonio Conte will feel relieved that his side only have a two-goal deficit going into the second leg as they were completely outplayed by a tireless and fluid Bayern side. The Juventus forwards hardly had a sniff of Neuer's goal and they will need to turn in a memorable performance if they are to reach the semi-finals.
90′ +3
Substitution Franck Ribéry Xherdan Shaqiri
Jupp Heynckes seems keen to run down the clock and Ribery leaves the field to a standing ovation, to be replaced by Xherdan Shaqiri.
90′ +1
Substitution Mario Mandzukic Mario Gomez
Mario Mandzukic has been terrific today and he is replaced for the final few minutes by Mario Gomez.
90′
BRILLIANT STOP FROM BUFFON! Mario Mandzukic lays the ball off to Muller inside the box and the German is denied a second when his low drive is parried by Buffon, who reacts superbly to tip the rebound over the crossbar.
89′
It may be the 89th minute but Bayern Munich are pressing and showing energy as if it were the first. Splendid European performance from the Bavarians.
88′
Sebastian Giovinco looks to steal in behind Dante to latch onto Barzagli's hopeful long punt, but the Brazilian defender muscles the Italian out of the challenge and Neuer claims.
87′
Franck Ribery looks to cap an impressive performance by catching Buffon off his line with a strike from distance. However, the Frenchman's effort bobbles just past the post with Buffon scrambling.
86′
Juventus threaten when Chiellini finds Pogba on the edge of the box, but his tame shot is well blocked by Alaba before Bonucci slices an effort wide of the goal. It just has not been the Bianconeri's day.
84′
Arturo Vidal is walking a tightrope here after an altercation with Ribery. One more challenge and he will be off.
83′
I think it's safe to say that this Juventus change of attack has had little impact on proceedings in the second half. Juventus just cannot find a way to supply their forward line.
82′
Yellow Card Luiz Gustavo Dias
Luiz Gustavo attempts to fool Mark Clattenburg by diving over the challenge of Bonucci, but the referee spots the foul play and cautions the Brazilian.
81′
Bastian Schweinsteiger delivers another inviting set-piece which is punched clear, somewhat unconvincingly, by Buffon. Can Bayern snatch a third?
80′
Mario Mandzukic has been everywhere for Bayern this evening and he tracks back superbly once again to dispossess Pogba on the edge of the box. Sparkling performance from the Croatian who is only lacking his name on the scoresheet.
78′
Thomas Muller is another candidate for man-of-the-match this evening and he surges past Pogba with ease before firing a wild shot well wide of Buffon's goal.
76′
Yellow Card Stephan Lichtsteiner
Things go from bad to worse for Juventus when Stephan Lichtsteiner is cautioned for simulation. That means he will also be suspended for the return leg.
75′
Substitution Federico Peluso Paul Pogba
Final roll of the dice for Antonio Conte as he replaces Federico Peluso with Paul Pogba. It seems Juventus could switch to a 4-4-2 with Chiellini going to left-back.
74′
Sebastian Giovinco looks to combine with Vucinic with a neat through ball but Van Buyten is there once again to produce a telling interception. Bayern clearly do not feel like conceding their 400th European goal this evening.
72′
Bayern's work-rate has been phenomenal this evening and their determination to win the ball back quickly has been a major difference between the two sides this evening. Can they find a third? Tweet me your thoughts on Twitter @MaxBentley1.
71′
This is one of the best performances I have seen from Ribery in a long time and the Frenchman stings the palms of Buffon with an arrowed drive from the edge of the box.
70′
JUVENTUS HAVE TWO SHOTS ON TARGET! Moments after Vidal's fierce strike from Lichtsteiner's cutback is palmed away by Neuer, the German goalkeeper is called upon again to thwart the Chilean at his near post. Much better from the visitors.
69′
Schweinsteiger drills a vicious freekick towards goal but Vidal stands strong to make a vital block. Bayern are looking for a third here and you wouldn't put it past them.
67′
Yellow Card Arturo Vidal
Arturo Vidal has finally been booked! The Chilean midfielder will now miss the second leg after deliberate handball.
66′
Looking at a replay of that goal, Juventus may have a case for offside against Mandzukic.
65′
Substitution Fabio Quagliarella Sebastian Giovinco
65′
Substitution Alessandro Matri Mirko Vučinić
65′
Antonio Conte does not look impressed and he chooses to make a double substitution, replacing ineffective strike partners Quagliarella and Matri with Giovinco and Vucinic. Can they bring something different?
63′
Assist Mario Mandzukic
63′
Goal Thomas Müller
2-0 BAYERN! The Bianconeri resistance has finally been broken! Luiz Gustavo's curling strike from the edge of the box is parried by Buffon and Mandzukic is the quickest on the scene to slot the ball across goal for Muller to tap into an empty net. You can't say they don't deserve it. Huge mountain for Juventus to climb now.
62′
There were question marks over Daniel Van Buyten before this game but the commanding Belgian has not looked out of place so far. Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella have barely had a sniff of goal.
60′
An hour gone and Juventus are still to test Neuer...
59′
Robben and Ribery exchange neat passes on the edge of the Juventus box and the Frenchman twists his way past Bonucci once again but there is nobody at the back post to meet his lofted cross.
57′
Remember that Juventus, along with Borussia Dortmund, are the only unbeaten sides in this season's Champions League. Can they find a piece of inspiration from somewhere to grab an equaliser?
55′
David Alaba has his shooting boots on today and he tests Buffon with a fizzing low freekick down to the goalkeeper's right. The Austria is proving himself to be one of the brightest prospects in European football this evening.
54′
Yellow Card Giorgio Chiellini
Giorgio Chiellini is the first Juventus man to be cautioned after challenging unfairly in the air with Mandzukic. It's been a difficult night for the Italian centre-back so far.
53′
Luiz Gustavo is not renowned for his goalscoring ability and he shows that here as he blasts a shot high into the back rows of the upper tier.
52′
Alaba looks to double Bayern's tally when he receives the ball from Schweinsteiger on the left corner of the box, but his strike is closed down quickly by Barzagli.
51′
Bayern are toying with the Juventus midfield at the beginning of this half with the Italians unable to steal the ball away. I think Conte would bite your hand off for a 1-0 defeat at the moment.
49′
CHANCE FOR BAYERN! Bastian Schweinsteiger spots a gap in the Juventus defence and threads a brilliant ball through for Mandzukic and the Croatian tests Buffon with a powerful low drive at his near post.
48′
Claudio Marchisio did not see too much of the ball in the first half and he looks to send Quagliarella away with a incise through pass, but Van Buyten is there to produce a crucial interception. Can Juventus find that elusive away goal?
47′
Philippe Lahm knocks a ball up towards Mandzukic who cushions the ball back for Robben, but Mark Clattenburg adjudges that the Croatian was too forceful. He's been a real handful for the Juve defence so far.
46′
23 seconds gone in the second half and no goal! That's disappointing...
46′
Bayern Munich get the second half underway. Can they start it in the same attacking manner as they ended the first?

Juventus are yet to have a single shot on Manuel Neuer's goal. Can Conte produce a tactical masterstroke to turn this game on its head. The second half awaits...

Looking back on that Alaba goal, the ball certainly did seem to take a devastating deflection off the toe of Vidal. Not sure there was really much Buffon could have done.

Before Alaba's first-minute strike, Juventus had gone 490 minutes in the Champions League since conceding to Mikkel Beckmann's effort for FC Nordsjælland on matchday three. However, they can feel fortunate to only be one behind this evening. What did you make of that first half? Can Juventus find a route back into this match? Let me know your thoughts via Twitter @MaxBentley1.

HALF TIME: BAYERN 1 - 0 JUVENTUS. David Alaba's strike 23 seconds into the match divides these two European giants at the break. In truth, the Germans could have been out of sight and have absolutely dominated proceedings at the Allianz Arena. Arjen Robben has spurned several presentable opportunities since his introduction with Franck Ribery proving an equal menace on the left wing. Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella have hardly seen the ball in the first period and Antonio Conte must seriously be pondering some changes at the break. Bayern in cruise control.
45′
Juventus have a chance right on half-time when Mandzukic heads the ball behind for a corner. Pirlo whips the ball into the near post area and it is flicked onto the roof of the net by the head of Chiellini. Warning sign for the hosts.
44′
Yellow Card Mario Mandzukic
Mario Mandzukic has worked tirelessly in this first half and is unlucky to be the first player cautioned after a mistimed tackle on Vidal.
43′
Schweinsteiger seizes on a loose ball on the edge of the Juventus box and unleashes a venomous drive on the stretch which blazes inches over the crossbar.
42′
Franck Ribery produces a wonderful piece of skill to control the ball and take it away from Vidal, but his through ball intended for Robben is cut out well by Barzagli.
40′
Juventus have a rare opportunity when Pirlo curls a glorious freekick towards goal, but there is no black and white shirt gambling at the back post and the move breaks down.
39′
The first half really could not come any sooner for Juventus. They have been completely outplayed by Bayern in this first half and can consider themselves fortunate to only be one goal behind.
38′
Moments after Alaba's low cross narrowly evades the Bayern shirts at the back post, Mandzukic rises highest once again to meet the ball with a firm header which bounces wide of Buffon's goal.
36′
PENALTY SHOUT FOR BAYERN! Ribery is in the mood tonight and he twists past two defenders down the left before sliding a low ball across goal for Mandzukic who is bundled over by Chiellini. There certainly seemed to be contact.
35′
Bayern are all over Juventus here and Robben has made a real impact since replacing Kroos early on. The winger cuts inside onto his favoured left foot just outside the box but his feeble attempt is comfortably saved by Buffon.
34′
Schweinsteiger delivers a teasing cross into the heart of the Juventus penalty area but it is flicked just wide by the head of Mandzukic. Only one goal in this competition this season for the Croatian.
33′
Juventus look to catch the home side out with a long ball over the top but Neuer is off his line quickly to prevent Matri from stealing in on goal.
32′
WHAT A MISS FROM ROBBEN! Thomas Muller does fantastically to get free down the right wing once again and he looks up to cut the ball back for Robben who somehow places his shot the wrong side of the post. Glaring miss from the Dutch international.
31′
Juventus are at sixes and sevens at the back today as Chiellini is fortunate not to see his error capitalised upon by Muller. It's funny to think that this defence is the strongest in the competition this season.
30′
Schweinsteiger steps up to execute the set-piece but his cheeky shot towards the back post is well caught by Buffon.
29′
How has Vidal not been cautioned? The Chilean midfielder was fortunate not to be booked early on and escapes punishment from referee Mark Clattenburg once again after a mistimed lunge on Ribery.
27′
Bayern seem to have identified Juventus' left side as a potential weak link and Robben has certainly seen a lot of the ball since coming on.
26′
Thomas Muller capitalises on a rare misplaced Pirlo pass to set up a good opportunity for the hosts but the midfielder recovers superbly to thwart the German's low cross. Juventus are really on the ropes at the moment.
24′
Bayern attack straight down the other end with Dante and Van Buyten causing havoc from another Robben corner with their aerial prowess but Buffon stands firm to pluck the ball from the Belgian.
23′
Stephan Lichtsteiner finds space on the right but cannot deliver his cross into the middle. We have not seen too much of either Quagliarella or Matri so far.
21′
Robben whips in a corner from the right which Dante rises highest to meet, but the Brazilian's header glances narrowly wide.
20′
BAYERN GO CLOSE TO A SECOND! Mandzukic does brilliantly to rob Barzagli in possession and the Croatian feeds in Ribery, whose low shot takes a slight nick and creeps inches past the post. The Germans look dangerous at the moment.
19′
GOOD SAVE FROM BUFFON! Ribery drifts out to the right-hand side and drills in a wonderful low cross which is only half-cleared by Barzagli straight to Robben who tests the reflexes of the Italian shotstopper with a fizzing low volley.
17′
Robben's first activity is to burst down the right flank and he looks to take the ball past Bonucci, but only succeeds in running the ball out of play.
16′
Substitution Toni Kroos Arjen Robben
Toni Kroos cannot continue and he is replaced by Dutch winger Arjen Robben who will take his place on the right wing.
15′
Incidentally, if Bayern win this evening, it will be their 150th European Cup victory. On course so far.
14′
Toni Kroos is struggling here and it does not seem that the German will be able to continue. Arjen Robben readies himself on the touchline.
13′
Arturo Vidal came close to joining Bayern Munich before he joined Juventus and he nearly compounds the Germans' misery further when he cuts inside Schweinsteiger onto his left foot, but his stinging drive flashes just wide of Neuer's right-hand post.
12′
Juventus win a freekick in Pirlo territory and the veteran midfielder steps up to strike a dipping drive which narrowly evades the crossbar. That certainly had Neuer scrambling.
11′
Bayern spring their second attack of the game when Ribery exchanges passes with Muller, but the German's return pass is slightly overhit and Buffon races off his line to claim.
10′
After that atrocious start, it has been a good response from Juventus who are now enjoying the lion's share of the possession. Can they fight back before the break?
9′
Bayern put themselves under pressure when a mix-up between Alaba and Dante gifts the visitors a corner. Pirlo delivers the cross but Van Buyten rises highest to clear the danger.
8′
Alaba's strike is the second fastest Champions League goal in knock-out phase history after Roy Makaay's ten-second strike for Bayern back in March 2007.
6′
Arturo Vidal is lucky not to be cautioned when he hauls down Ribery on the left touchline. That would have ruled him out of the return leg. Let-off for the Chilean midfielder.
4′
Pirlo whips in the resulting set-piece but it is comfortably cleared by Dante. Set-pieces have certainly been an achilles heel for Bayern in recent weeks.
3′
Juventus look to respond immediately with Federico Peluso springing down the left wing but his cross is headed behind for a corner by Alaba, under pressure from Marchisio.
1′
Goal D. Alaba
WHAT A START FOR BAYERN MUNICH! It's only taken 25 seconds for the Germans to break the deadlock. Bastian Schweinsteiger lays the ball square for David Alaba 30 yards from goal and the Austrian left-back unleashes a swerving pot shot which takes a slight deflection off Arturo Vidal and fools Gianluigi Buffon. The Juve shotstopper will be disappointed with that one. Dream start for Heynckes.
1′
Assist Bastian Schweinsteiger

Captains Philippe Lahm and Gianluigi Buffon engage in pre-match handshakes before the players take their positions on the field. Are you ready?

The teams emerge from the tunnel to the famous Champions League anthem. Is there a more emotive sporting song? A truly special atmosphere here at a sell-out Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich and Juventus have met six times in the past, all in the Champions League. Bayern have two wins, Juve have triumphed on three occasions whilst one draw has been played out between the sides. Who will secure victory this evening? Kickoff is under five minutes away...

Manuel Neuer is the only Bayern player to have played every minute of his side's Champions League campaign. Gianluigi Buffon and Leonardo Bonucci have not missed a minute for Juventus.

Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes has a good record against The Old Lady and masterminded victory over Juventus when he was Real Madrid boss, guiding them to a Champions League final 1-0 win in 1998.

Bayern have scored 18 goals in the Champions League this season, the joint highest total in the competition along with Real Madrid. However, they face a Bianconeri defence who have the best defensive record in the Champions League this season, having conceded only four goals in eight games. Can the Bianconeri defence keep the dangerous Die Roten attack at bay this evening?

The Biaconeri have won all five of their previous European quarter-finals against German opposition and are unbeaten on their European travels since March 2010 when they were defeated 4-1 by Fulham.

Stephan Lichtsteiner, Arturo Vidal and Claudio Marchisio are walking a discipinary tightrope as a booking incurred here would mean they miss the return leg.

As for Juventus, Antonio Conte makes two changes to the side which secured an impressive 2-1 away at Inter Milan at the weekend. Stephan Lichtsteiner is recalled at right wing-back in place of Simone Padoin whilst Federico Peluso comes in on the left in place of Kwadwo Asamoah. Sebastian Giovinco has recovered from an injury sustained by Esteban Cambiasso to take his place on the substitute bench alongside Mirko Vucinic who is still recovering from flu.

Brazilian centre-back Dante and Philippe Lahm are in danger of missing the return leg in Turin on April 10 should they pick up a booking in this encounter.

Bastian Schweinsteiger returns to Bayern's Champions League lineup after missing the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal through suspension. Javier Martinez is himself suspended, meaning that Luiz Gustavo continues in central midfield. Claudio Pizarro notched four goals in Bayern's 9-2 demolition of Hamburg on Saturday but the Peruvian international is forced to settle for a place on the bench, with Mario Mandzukic occupying the lone forward role.

JUVENTUS (3-5-2): Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Vidal, Pirlo, Marchisio, Peluso; Matri, Quagliarella.

BAYERN (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Lahm, Van Buyten, Dante, Alaba; Schweinsteiger, Luiz Gustavo; Muller, Kroos, Ribery; Mandzukic.
