Gabon: 1 - 2 : Togo
Les équipes du Gabon et du Togo ont fait match nul 1-1, ce 8 septembre 2012 à Libreville, en éliminatoires de la CAN 2013. C’est un résultat mitigé pour les Gabonais de Daniel Cousin face aux Togolais d’Emmanuel Adebayor. Les Panthères devront gagner leur place en phase finale, le 13 ou 14 octobre prochain à Lomé, lors du match retour.
Un an après avoir coorganisé la CAN 2012, le Gabon participera-t-il à l’édition 2013 ? Son équipe nationale est dans une position inconfortable après avoir été tenue en échec 1-1 par celle du Togo. Gabonais et Togolais se sont neutralisés ce 8 septembre 2012 à Libreville, au dernier tour aller des éliminatoires.

La rencontre, assez fermée, a bien failli s’achever sur un 0-0. Il a fallu attendre la fin de partie pour que la situation se débloque. Le vétéran Daniel Cousin, âgé de 35 ans, ouvre en effet le score pour le Gabon d'un beau coup de tête décroisé (72e). Les Gabonais s’offrent alors un peu de marge avant le match retour. Mais Emmanuel Adebayor, qui signe son grand retour chez les Eperviers, égalise dans la foulée (83e). L'avant-centre, lancé dans la profondeur, résiste au retour d'un défenseur et bat le gardien gabonais d'un tir du plat du pied.
Résultat, le sélectionneur des Panthères, Paulo Duarte, devra trouver la bonne formule lors du deuxième acte qui se déroulera le 13 ou le 14 octobre prochain à Lomé.
Les Togolais, eux, ont désormais l’avantage du terrain pour se qualifier en phase finale. Ils avaient manqué l’édition 2012 et déclaré forfait en 2010 après la tuerie de Cabinda.

Emmanuel Adebayor made his third start since agreeing to return to international football, following the bus attack incident in 2010, and they were hoping to grab their first win against the Panthers since 2009.
The Tottenham player was instantly handed the skipper’s armband as they got the game underway.
Despite the electric atmosphere at the stadium the first half hour of the game ticked by with no action at the goal mouth.
It was a balanced first half as it ended goalless with the referee having a easy game as he was yet to show his cards.
The second half got underway in a similar fashion to the first with neither team being able to create a hole in their opponents defence.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Daniel Cousin were proving to be the better players on the field for the hosts and it proved decisive when Cousin struck in a powerful header deep into the second half; with just five minutes remaining.
The hosts thought they had sealed the deal but it wasn’t to be when the towering Adebayor managed to draw level on the stroke of the full time level, giving Togo the all important away goal for the second leg.
